| Hello Fragrance Crafters,
Spring has been appearing all winter. I must confess this is fine with me. I was
in a store today filled with fragrant hyacinths, a scent I find to be delicious.
Our Hyacinth fragrance oil is right on the mark. The green smell of hyacinths
reminds me that Spring is just around the corner.
We have a new Spring/Easter soap making kit. You may choose from two different
sets of oils and colorants. It includes natural bird's nests with bits of fluffy feathers
to hold your Easter egg soaps.

Our new Easter egg mold with bunnies and
flowers is $3.00 and makes eight eggs. Soap confections with no calories!
Interesting
Idea:
Measure a square or rectangular soap mold or use Rubbermaid drawer sectioning
unit. Place an unmounted rubber stamp (without woodblock and cushion) in the
bottom of the mold and fill with soap base (scented and colored). Cool and
unmold. Lift the edge of the rubber stamp with a pin and peel off. If you want to remove a
rubber stamp from the wood block, heat for 30 seconds in
the the microwave. The rubber portion will separate from the wood mounting block.
There is a stamp store on line, http://www.abovethemark.com
which sells unmounted rubber stamps. They are very reasonable, have a terrific
selection and ship
promptly.

| Chocolate Chip Cookie Soap |
 |
Melt 1/2 c. opaque soap base, add a drop of caramel colorant
and 1/2 tsp. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough fragrance oil. Stir, cool 3-4 minutes and add a
scant Tbsp. of chocolate chips (the ones you put in real cookies). Pour into an aluminum
tart pan and allow to harden. Pop out and you have a yummy cookie soap. Not just for kids! |
Salt & Sugar Scrubs
There's been a great response to my new book, "A Spa of Your Own". We
have some unique sugar and salt scrub recipes which do not separate and are very
addictive. I sell my own line of products in the spas and find Lemon Meringue, Vanilla
Sugar, Coconut Cream, Green Tea and French Lavender are the best sellers and have the most
repeat sales. Most people prefer the sugar scrubs to the salt scrubs, as they are less
abrasive and you don't have to worry about them entering a cut and causing irritation.
Also, sugar is very nourishing to the skin on its own in addition to the emollients added
to the scrubs.
Our Shimmer Powders which incorporate micas have quite a following. Teens
love the Fairy Dust Glitter Gels and soaps with glitter. Our Oatmeal, Milk and
Honey soap is extremely popular. All of these recipes are in "A Spa of Your
Own", plus lots of information on combining fragrances and color too.
New Fragrance
Oils - Just Arrived!
Our newest fragrance oil is Quince Blossom. My Grandama used to make Quince jelly
and I still love the smell and taste of it. Also, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough fragrance
oil and Berrylicious (strawberry, raspberry and blueberry).
Some
Facts About Lavender:
Oil of Lavender 40/42% is the finest grade of Lavender and the only one we carry.
It is fresh, herbaceous and has a fruity top note. It is steam distilled from the freshly
cut, flowering tops and stalks of Lavender Officinallis a wild growing or cultivated herb.
It is a pale straw to colorless liquid. It contains a soft, balsamic, woody back note.
It is used in Fougeres (fernlike) Men's scents and as a modifier in Eau de
Cologne. Notes are found in herbal, new mown hay and amber blends as well.
In Aromatherapy, it is an anti-anxiety and sleep inducing oil.
I put dried lavender buds in a small muslin bag and toss it in my dryer. The word lavender
comes from the French, Lavande, which means "to wash". It gives a fresh,
"dried in the outdoors" scent to your laundry.
We have a "Moth Chaser" oil blend which I add to cedar chips, lavender and clove
stems to make "moth chaser" sacques for my closets. They are a big seller when
summer approaches.
Bases, Bases, Bases!
Don't forget, in addition to our thick and rich lotion base (you can stand a
spoon up in it), bath and shower gel base, perfume diluent and linen mist bases,
we also offer anti-bacterial soap base (used in sugar and salt scrubs, as well
as on its own). Our newest addition will be, Foam Bath with bubbles galore!
We will also be adding 100 yard rolls of Offray single faced satin ribbon. Let
us know what colors you would like us to carry. 100 yards for $22.00. Now that's
a bargain!
