Fixatives are an essential ingredient when making potpourris, incense and sachets. The fixative is used to "fix" or hold the scent of your essential and fragrance oils when the two are combined.

Cellulose
A coarse, creamy beige fixative made from corn cobs. An inexpensive alternative to orris root (which can cause allergic reactions in some people). Cellulose is very absorbent and holds scent extremely well. Although it can be used in dry potpourri, we recommend it for use in sachets and simmering potpourris.
